Continuing Orange County Public Schools’ national recognition for its arts programs, the NAMM Foundation awarded OCPS with its designation as one of the 2018 Best Communities for Music Education. The award recognizes the commitment and dedication of OCPS to provide innovative music and arts learning opportunities to all students, as part of a well-rounded education.

Holy Family Catholic School officials introduced the newest member of their communications team, Suzie Marrotte, who will serve as the school’s digital media and communications coordinator. Suzie’s three children attend HFCS: Dylan, fourth grade; Valerie, second grade; and Juliette, kindergarten. She has a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University and is experienced in communications, marketing, public relations, advertising and digital media management.

Orange County Public Schools officials released a comprehensive report on every school in the district, beyond a single grade that is based on test scores. The district created school report cards for all traditional elementary, middle, K-8 and high schools. These report cards provide a more accurate description of the entire school. The information displayed includes student demographics, climate survey results, attendance, participation in visual and performing arts courses, student performance on statewide assessments, extracurricular activities, magnet programs and more.

“I have said time and again that a single test score should not define a student’s success,” said Bill Sublette, OCPS school board chair. “Throughout my almost eight years on the school board, I have seen tremendous growth in our schools. Our school report cards provide a deeper, more complete picture of student performance and accurately [reflect] the learning and growth occurring every day in our schools.”
