Health Central Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center
|
Almost 6 million Americans suffer from wounds that will not heal after two weeks or longer. Known as chronic wounds, many of these wounds are associated with complications from diabetes or can result from vascular disorders. Other types of chronic wounds originate from pressure sores or trauma. Chronic wounds are not only an uncomfortable problem for those who suffer from them, but they also place patients at heightened risk for serious infections, circulation problems, nerve damage and even loss of lower extremities. Health Central understands the needs and challenges of patients coping with chronic wounds. The hospital, which has been treating west Orange County and its surrounding communities for almost 60 years, offers patients a state\ of-the-art, highly specialized Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center with the latest technologies and care regimens for the effective treatment of chronic wounds. The Wound Healing Center offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy combined with inclusive on-site wound care. HBO therapy is used to treat a variety of wounds and infections by improving the body’s immune system and advancing the healing response. The clear, spacious acrylic tubular chamber provides 100 percent oxygen to create a comfortable healing environment, allowing tissue to restore from the inside out. In addition, Health Central’s Wound Healing physicians and support team develop customized treatment plans designed to not only treat patients, but to educate and empower them on the road to faster recovery. Therapies include wound debridement, specially chosen dressings and wraps, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, ultrasonic debridement, platelet derived growth technologies, bio-engineered tissue substitutes and lymphedema treatment. These approaches can lead to the healing of chronic wounds in 16 weeks or less and significantly enhance comfort and the quality of life for patients. The ability to offer this level of quality care to the west Orange community is an essential part of Health Central’s belief that health care begins with caring.
