Prior to becoming the medical director at Nova Cosmetic Centers in Dr. Phillips, Jan V. Karlin, M.D., practiced in Palm Springs and Beverly Hills, Calif. Dr. Karlin, who is originally from New England, received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and medical degree from Duke University School of Medicine. He served residencies in general surgery at the University of Miami and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He completed his residency in plastic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he became an instructor in plastic surgery. He earned his medical degree at the University of Ilorin Medical School in Nigeria and completed a residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he served as an assistant professor. He is on staff at Florida Hospital and is co-medical director of the intensive care unit at Florida Hospital Celebration Health, where he serves as chairman of the Medicine Section. He is a native of Orlando who moved back in 1989 following his fellowship in allergy and immunology at Tulane University Medical School in New Orleans.
