Brennan Spencer took home top honors from the Light 160 Division of the 2011 Lil New Smyrna 500. The Citrus Oaks resident also is the New Smyrna Quarter Midget Racing Association Light 160 2011 Series Champion.
Southwest Middle School’s girls volleyball team finishes the season with a 7-1 record.
Kudos to the members of Southwest Middle School’s girls volleyball team for making it to this season’s final four championship round. The team finished the season with a record of 7-1.The Gr8 to Don8 8K will be held March 31 at Lyman High School, located at 865 S. Ronald Reagan Blvd. in Longwood. Registration begins at 7 a.m., the 8K kicks off at 8 a.m., and a 5K will be held at 8:05 a.m. Awards will be presented at 9:45 a.m.The cost is $22 before March 1, $25 from March 1 through March 30, and $30 the day of the event (cash or check only). Students age 18 and younger are $15. The West Orange Warriors 11-under travel baseball team volunteered to serve dinner through the Matthew’s Hope homeless outreach program in Winter Garden. Located on the property of Church of Christ of West Orange, the nonprofit organization serves the homeless community Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
FlagFootball4Fun is accepting registrations for spring flag football for boys and girls ages 5 through 16 in Dr. Phillips, Windermere and the surrounding areas. All skill levels are welcome, and there are no tryouts. The format is five-on-five with no contact, and everyone receives equal playing time.The cost is $109 through Feb. 19 and $129 from Feb. 20 through March 18. Players receive a jersey and flags.Practices begin April 9, and the first game is April 15. Games are held each Sunday.
