Andrew Aziz, M.D., and Marc Schwartz, M.D., visited a recent Rotary Club of Windermere meeting. Aziz spoke about the most common eye problems and diseases found in people older than age 40, as well as causes and treatments. He also talked about lens replacement, laser technology and vitamin supplementation. |

Windermere’s Downtown Business Committee held its first fall festival on Main Street in downtown Windermere. The event included local vendors, music, dancing, face painting, bounce houses, arts, crafts, food, drinks and more. DBC is currently planning the annual Windermere Auto Show, which will be held in late February 2012 and include a variety of vehicles, live entertainment, food, drinks and more. |
| Jeffrey Hice recently released the children’s book The Christmas Village, published by Mirror Publishing. The Winter Garden resident originally wrote the book without the intention of publishing it, but was encouraged by friends to share the story. It centers around a small village in the North Pole, where readers meet various families and elves, and learn about how Christmas traditions began. It is available online from Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble Booksellers. |

Conquerors Toastmasters held its Tall Tales Contest, when speakers were challenged to tell an outrageous, exaggerated story. Robert Donenfeld earned first-place honors, and Karl Righter placed second. Conquerors Toastmasters meets Monday evenings at Legends Sports Bar & Grill in Orlando. |

Women’s Leadership Connection members recognized the organization’s 10th anniversary with a celebration at a private home in Bay Hill. Early in 2001, Joan Hutton of Bay Hill and Valerie Oberle co-founded WLC with the goal of supporting the success of women in all aspects of life, from personal to professional growth, as well as giving back to the community. Locally, WLC supports the Women’s Residential & Counseling Center, Women’s Residential Program and Edgewood Children’s Ranch.
