Blue Man Group at Universal Orlando Resort is searching for an on-camera talent to serve as the show’s inaugural collegiate correspondent. Submissions will be accepted through Oct. 9, 2011. The winner will work with Blue Man Group to cover current events and news related to the show. Reports will be featured in promotional videos that will air on Blue Man Group websites and social media sites. The winner also will receive $1,500, a MacBook Pro, copies of their work, and more. The inaugural Micro-Budget Film Festival will be held Feb. 2 through Feb. 5, 2012, at the Garden Theatre, located at 160 W. Plant St. in Winter Garden. The film festival will showcase dramatic feature-length films that were produced for $100,000 or less. Film submissions will be accepted through Oct. 31, 2011. The inaugural Orlando Calling music festival will take place Nov. 12 and Nov. 13 at Citrus Bowl Park. The new festival features headliners like The Killers on Saturday, and Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band and Kid Rock on Sunday. The Winter Garden Heritage Foundation will present its sixth annual Winter Garden MusicFest, presented by Bright House Networks, from Oct. 7 through Oct. 9 on Plant Street in Winter Garden. | The Orlando-based vocal group 42Five will perform benefit concerts for S.T.A.R.S. — Supplies to Assist ouR Students — on Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Olympia High School’s arts auditorium, located at 4301 S. Apopka-Vineland Road in Orlando. S.T.A.R.S. provides backpacks and basic school supplies to public elementary, middle and high school students. This year, the organization hopes to provide 15,000 local students with the supplies they need for the school year. Ticket prices range from $10 to $20, with group rates and sponsorships available.
