Windermere Preparatory School reached an enrollment milestone when its 1,000th student was registered for the 2011-12 school year. Parents George and Joy Taylor, who moved from Missouri to Keene’s Pointe last year, were the surprise recipients of WPS’s 1,000th student celebration.

Orange County Public Schools Superintendent Ronald Blocker received the inaugural Florida Association for Media in Education 2011 Administrator Advocacy Award. The Southwest resident was selected based on his leadership and contributions to the promotion of effective school library programs and services. Mr. Blocker emphasizes keeping certified library media specialists in schools, maintaining quality and current book collections, advancing technology skills and managing continuous access to resources. Later this month, he will be recognized during FAME’s conference, where media specialists from across the state will be in attendance.
