Andrew Davis of Boy Scout Troop No. 84 in Dr. Phillips completed the necessary qualifications to become certified as a distinguished expert in the 4-position smallbore rifle. The certification is part of the Winchester/National Rifle Association Marksmanship Qualification Program. Andrew worked with trainers for four years to achieve this distinction, which requires more than 13 levels of shooting expertise in the standing, sitting, kneeling and prone positions, as well as four additional levels of qualification to receive the distinguished expert designation. Andrew is a senior at Dr. Phillips High School and member of Central Florida Rifle & Pistol Club’s Junior Club Program; and 2nd Florida Volunteers, Company E, Hammock Guards, an authentic Civil War reenacting unit. |

The Golf Channel Am Tour donated more than $30,000 to its official charitable organization, Give Kids The World. Donations were collected from participants at the 2010 GCAT National Championships and 25 two-day GCAT major championships held this year. Golf Channel on-air personalities Win McMurry and Charlie Rymer presented the $30,250 check to GKTW President Pam Landwirth, who was accompanied by three families who were staying at the Give Kids The World Village. |

Phillips YMCA Family Center, will host the second annual Think Pink 5K Run/Walk & Health Expo on Oct. 8 from 7-11 a.m. at the YMCA, located at 7000 Dr. Phillips Blvd. in Orlando. The 13th annual Miracle Miles will be held Sept. 24 at 6 a.m. at the Arnold Palmer Medical Center campus, located at 83 W. Miller St. in Orlando. The event includes 5K and 15K races, as well as a free Kids Fun Run and Walk-Around-Winnie. The cost is $27 for the 15K and $22 for the 5K through Sept. 17, $30 and $25 from Sept. 18 through Sept. 23, and $35 and $30 the day of the race.
