Dick and Pat Bain celebrated their recent 50th wedding anniversary with friends and neighbors. The Bay Hill residents were married in Washington, D.C., and traveled extensively while Dick served in the U.S. Navy Band as a harmonica soloist. He performed for more than 65 years with notables like the Boston Pops, Fred Waring & His Pennsylvanians, Florida Orchestra and other groups. The Bains have lived in Bay Hill since 1971, and Dick served on the Bay Hill Property Owners Association board for 12 years. The couple are members at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge. |

She also is the author of Windows of Opportunity, and currently is working on her third book, tentatively titled Spiritual Tool Kit. The Dr. Phillips resident received her bachelor’s from Mount Saint Mary College in New York and Doctor of Naturopathy from Clayton College of Natural Health in Alabama. She is a frequent guest on talk radio programs and was a featured speaker at the Awakening to Higher Consciousness Conference 2011. |

As part of his Eagle Scout project, Charlie Soukup of Boy Scout Troop No. 225 prepared and installed a brick paver walkway in Sand Lake Elementary School’s garden. The Emerald Forest resident graduated from SLES in 2008 and was one of the original volunteers who helped create the garden five years ago. SLES Principal Mary Hool and master gardener Amy Winslow worked with Charlie from planning through installation. The walkway completed the scope of the garden’s original master plan. |

The third annual 4 Paws for the Cause Walk & Dogtoberfest will be held Oct. 8 at The Village at Hunter’s Creek, located at 13538 Village Park Drive in Orlando. The one-mile dog walk will pay tribute to and promote awareness of those affected by cancer, including pets. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., the walk is at 9 a.m., and Dogtoberfest activities, including a dog costume contest, take place from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Through Sept. 26, the cost is $30, which includes a free T-shirt, and proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.
