| Foundation Academy officials announced the appointment of Mike Thomas as co-director of bands. Thomas, a full-time minister of music at First Baptist Church Windermere, received his bachelor’s in jazz studies from the University of North Texas. He has resided in the area with his wife, Amy, and children, Abby, Lindsay and Ethan, for five years and has played trumpet for various Disney entertainment groups, as well as a Christian group. He also has been an associate music minister at several churches. |
| Orlando Shakespeare Theater In Partnership With UCF will open its 2011-12 season with the black-tie Wilde Party on Sept. 11. The event will include food tastings, live entertainment, and live and silent auctions. The party also includes a sneak preview of the troupe’s production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest . Ticket prices range from $150 to $250, and proceeds will benefit the theater’s mission of producing professional theater and innovative educational experiences for all ages.
