Kudos to Gotha Middle student Joseph Ferreira for being named a Disney Dreamer and Doer. The honor is given to students who are engaged in making their communities better places to live. About 200 students from five Central Florida counties were recognized with this award. |
| Southwest Middle celebrated its 20th anniversary with the inaugural Art-N-Jazz Festival. The communitywide event included performances by the chorus, band, orchestra and drama department; a display of art created by students; a silent auction; and carnival games. Students worked all year to show their family and community members the activities that happen around school. |

Olympia High student Andrew Krupinski is selected to attend the U.S. Naval Academy Summer STEM Program. |
Andrew Krupinski, a rising junior at Olympia High, was selected to attend the U.S. Naval Academy Summer STEM Program. About 375 students from across the country are chosen for this honor. The program gives students the opportunity to experience real-life applications of math and science principles through hands-on practical learning. Andrew, a Windermere resident, is a member of OHS’s cross country and track team. He also competed in the Florida Science Olympiad, where he and a partner placed second. |

Foundation Academy Chess Club held a Four Round Swiss System Tournament and Double Round Robin before the end of the school year. Congratulations to first-place winner Sadat Kasem; second-place finisher >b>Abigail Crain; and Giovanni Moraes, who received thirdplace honors. All participants received a medal in recognition of their efforts during the tournament. The event was directed by chess club instructor Herb Dickens, who serves as president of the Casselberry Chess Club and is a life member of the U.S. Chess Federation. |
| The First Academy 2010-11 fourth-grader Taylor Kibler was recognized for being named to the Headmaster’s List for all four quarters. Taylor is a member of the National Elementary Honor Society and was selected to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program. |
