Winter Garden Commissioner RobertBobbyOlszewski of Sterling Pointe completed his yearlong term as Orange County Community Action Board chairman. Bobby passed the gavel to the new chairman, Orange County Commissioner Pete Clark, and the new executive board members who were sworn in by Orange County Judge Tanya Wilson. The Orange County Community Action Board serves programs that seek to eliminate the cycle of poverty in Orange County.

Turtle Creek resident Dr. Francelis Ivette González, founder and CEO of Kidsville Pediatric Clinics, is named one of the top-25 most influential Hispanics in Central Florida.

The editorial board of Vision Magazine, a publication of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, published its selection of the top-25 most influential Hispanics in Central Florida. Among those named was Turtle Creek resident Dr. Francelis Ivette González, founder and CEO of Kidsville Pediatrics Clinics. Dr. González has been practicing medicine in Central Florida since 1999 when she opened her first clinic. She has since opened seven additional clinics and has a new office scheduled to open in the Hunters Creek area. In 2013, she and her husband, Victor Pantoja, received the prestigious Don Quijote Award in the category of Business of the Year — More Than 5 Years.

Windermere News

Windermere resident John Lazenby of Colony Realty Group Inc. was inducted as the 2016 president of the Orlando Regional Realtor Association. He has served on a wide range of ORRA committees, from grievance to strategic planning and government relations. He is also on the board of trustees of ORRA’s charitable arm, the Florida Real Estate Foundation. John is the 2009 recipient of ORRA’s Pillar of the Community Award, which recognizes outstanding community service. A longtime volunteer with Florida Citrus Sports, he is noted for his mentoring of at-risk students with FCS’s Take Stock in Children program. In addition, his volunteer activities with his alma mater, the University of Southern Mississippi, have earned him induction into the USM Alumni Hall of Fame.

Windermere resident Lisa McCarthy hosted the sisters of Alpha Chi Omega Orlando chapter for the Angel Brunch and Lyre Boutique fundraising event. Sold items co-benefited the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation and local domestic violence shelters. Winter Garden News

Winter Garden resident and Orange County Clerk of Courts Tiffany Moore Russell has devoted her time and career to serving and making the community stronger. It is for this reason that Southwest Orlando Jaycees and YMCA of Central Florida representatives co-presented her with the 2016 Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Lifetime Achievement Award during the Arthur “Pappy” Kennedy Prayer Breakfast on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Clerk Russell first made history in 2006, when she became the youngest county commissioner, and again in 2014, when she was elected the first African-American female to serve as clerk of the circuit court in the state of Florida as well as Orange County.

Isabela Araujo of Windermere earned a perfect 4.0 GPA during the fall 2015 semester, earning a spot on the provost’s list.

Jennifer Armbruster of Winter Garden graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering.

• Students who achieved the fall 2015 dean’s list for their schools included Windermere resident Nikolas Dean, Tufts University; Windermere resident Cameron Green, Furman University; Winter Garden resident Makenna Malinowski, Kent State University; Ocoee resident Sebastian Mandino, University of New Hampshire; and Gotha resident Nica De Nijs, Georgia Institute of Technology.

• Windermere resident Emily Ellis graduated from Miami University with a Master of Arts.

Sara Ghassemi of Ocoee was named to the dean’s academic honor roll for the 2015 fall semester at Baylor University College of Arts and Sciences.

• Ocoee resident Elina Moon achieved the fall 2015 president’s honor roll at Oklahoma City University.

Rotary Club of Lake Buena Vista members hosted newly elected Rotary International district governors from around the world who were on their way to San Diego for district governor training. The guests were treated to a warm welcome and hot breakfast before they continued their journey. Among those who visited were Ron Janssen, District 6980, and his wife, Susan; Pekka Tahtinen, District 1390 of Finland; Peter Weda, District 1560 of east Netherlands, and his wife, Ema.

Members of Girl Scout Troop 911 of the Dr. Win Service Unit donated eight new suitcases filled with essentials to Children’s Home Society of Florida. The items, which included blankets, slippers, hygiene products and stuffed animals, along with the suitcases, had an estimated value of $800. CHS is always in need of suitcases for children who enter foster care with nothing more than a few items. The girls chose this as their service event after hearing that some children in the foster care system have to move their belongings in trash bags.

Elizabeth Parsons School of Dance students performed The Nutcracker at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort and the Clarion Inn Lake Buena Vista several times throughout the holiday season. In addition to their annual performance at the Windermere Town Social, the girls added a special dance themed around Charlie Brown and other beloved Peanuts characters.
